Here is me, having my first try in blogging, as well as crossing an Ocean on a sailing boat :) it's actually racing..
I've signed up to the Clipper Round the Globe Sailing Race, a long while ago now, and after passing numerous trainings, I have been allocated to the crew, Washington, DC. The race around globe has started from Portsmouth on 3rd September, 2023. I will join to the last leg (leg 8) of this race, also known as Home Coming. It consists of 2 races; the first race of this leg will be leaving from Washington, DC on 25th June, and arriving to Oban (Scotland), and the second race will be leaving Oban on the 21st July, arriving back to Portsmouth (England) on the 27th July, finalising the race around the globe.
During the last 9 months, against 10 identical boats, having stopovers in Spain, Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, Vietnam, China, Seattle and Panama. They are now on their way to Washington, DC.
Our team on leg 8 will have 20 crew (of which 6 are circumnavigators), a skipper, and a first mate (commonly known as AQP: additionally qualified person), during this leg. Overall there is a balanced split (50/50) between women and men, and a representation of 9 nationalities.
As a side activity on the off-shift hours during the race, I'm inclined to do journalling, and that's where the idea of this blog came from. Since it is only possible to send texts to my friends who are managing this blog while I'm on the water, there will be no real time images, however all of this is highly based on technology working properly.
Thanks for stopping by and wishing you a lovely day :)
